AN INTRODUCTION TO

SOCIAL MEDIA                  

An overview of social media applications like Facebook, Twitter and Linked In and how they can be used for business and promotion.  Participants may bring their own laptops.

INTRODUCTION TO

COMPUTERS - THIS COURSE IS FULL! 

This is an introductory course for new or

prospective computer users.  We will cover the basics including browsing, word processing and spreadsheets.  The courses will be

interactive and very much tailored  to the

requirements and interests of those attending and could include basic image editing.

TABATA TIME

Tabata Time is a fun and fast way to burn

calories and increase your fitness by going through a variety of interval circuits.  Class is broken up into a warm-up, Tabata, core and cool down.  Beginner friendly!  Participants should bring water bottles, a mat and weights.

                       No classes March 8 or  April 12

WALK/RUN & RUN CLUB - THIS COURSE IS CANCELLED

Join the motivating Walk/Run & Run Club twice a week for a 45 minute slow walk/run and a 45 minute speed walk/run to challenge the body.  Beginners welcome!  Participants should bring water bottles.

OUTSIDE ACTION TIME

Outside Action Time is specifically designed to integrate intense workouts with the support and motivation of a team.  The activities are fun and unique in a caring outdoor environment.

SENIORS HEALTH CAFE - THIS COURSE HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Session 1: Nutrition for Seniors:               

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012                                                                                        As we age, our nutrition needs change. This workshop will give you information on the evolving needs of our body, as it gets older. Tips will be given on how we can eat to ensure we meet our nutritional needs when faced with some of the challenges of aging.

Session 2: Ten Secrets to a Longer Life:        

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012                                                                                   Despite rumors to the contrary, midlife and beyond isn't necessarily a time of decay and decline. Instead, it can be a time for growth, creativity, and the freedom to redefine ourselves. Come and discuss ways to cope with the challenges, accept the changes, and celebrate the wisdom of aging.

Session 3: Becoming a Late Bloomer:       

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012                                                                                         Babies, bones, bowels and breasts are only four of the areas in which medical advances have improved women's health. Treatment and interventions will be discussed along with steps you can take to increase your health and happiness as well as the length of your life.

Session 4: Our Memory as We Age:        

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012                                                                                               Often we fear we are losing our memory as we get older. What does happen to us all is our memory changes as we get older. This session will cover normal changes in memory as we get older. We will talk about some simple steps to help our memory stay strong.

This presentation will provide an overview of the legal rights and responsibilities of an

executor (also known as a personal

representative), as that person:

•      Gathers in the estate assets.

•      Pays the debts.

•      Distributes to the beneficiaries.

• Generally administers the estate.

You’ll also hear about the  Wills and

Succession Act, new legislation pending in this area.

New Canadians often find our health system confusing and hard to navigate. This workshop will give a basic understanding of Alberta’s health system and “how to” work with your doctor most effectively. Plain language is used to promote understanding for ESL participants.

When trying to find information about their health, many New Canadians are confused by the amount of information that is available to them. This workshop will help the participants to understand what good health information is and how to advocate for themselves with their health care providers.
